GULF SHORES/ORANGE BEACH, AL - The 41st Annual National Shrimp Festival Committee, chaired by Ron Kutter, is proud to unveil the 2012 Official Annual National Shrimp Festival Poster. This year's winning design was created by Keith White, a native of Shallotte, North Carolina.
The poster design contest is an annual tradition and in past years the winning design has not only been featured on the official poster sold at the festival, but elements of the art are also incorporated into other merchandise items including t-shirts, visors, and the like.
Keith is a graduate of the Art Institute of Atlanta and the American College for the Applied Arts, earning his Bachelor's degree in commercial art. After living in Atlanta for eleven years and working as a computer graphic artist, Keith moved back home to Shallotte in 1998. Until 2003, Keith worked as a graphic artist at Kool-A-Brew in Calabash, North Carolina. Starting in early 2004, Keith began working for The Brunswick Beacon, a weekly newspaper focusing on local news and events for the southeast, North Carolina coast. Keith serves as both graphic artist in the Beacon's advertising department and the Beacon's editorial cartoonist. In addition to his time at the Beacon, Keith is a freelance artist specializing in business logos, t-shirt designs and art focusing on local scenery and surfing, a personal passion. Keith is no stranger to local festivals.
Throughout the year, Keith's art can be found at various community festivals on the southeast coast of North Carolina. Keith's art has been chosen as the official festival art for the Ocean Isle Beach Oyster Festival for the past three years.
The 2012 41st Annual Shrimp Festival will be held on the public beaches of Gulf Shores from October 11th thru October 14th. And as the Festival boasts, there really is something for everyone! The festival is a project of the Alabama Gulf Coast Area Chamber of Commerce.
