Gulf Shores 2019 holiday events schedule

Gulf Shores, Ala –  Christmas is just around the corner, and the City of Gulf Shores is once again gearing up to celebrate with a full array of holiday events. Whether it’s marveling at the magical glow of the Lighted Parade or the Baldwin Pops Christmas Concert, families young and old are invited to join in the excitement of the season.

Gulf Shores Lighted Christmas Parade & Holiday Celebration
You don’t want to miss the Lighted Christmas Parade and Holiday Celebration in Gulf Shores on Friday, December 6. The evening parade will begin at 6:30 p.m. and will feature festive lighted floats, as well as appearances from holiday characters and marching bands. Large crowds of spectators looking to bask in the holiday spirit are anticipated along Highway 59 as parade entries make their way from Gulf Shores Public Beach to Sims Park.

The magical atmosphere from the parade will roll continuously into the night as a Holiday Celebration at Sims Park will kick off immediately following the parade. Families can enjoy pictures with Santa, holiday treats, crafts and the 5 th Annual Snowball Drop. The Snowball Drop will feature a man-made blizzard as 4,000 ping pong balls will be dropped from above by Santa. Winning snowballs will have a number that correlates with a prize supplied by our generous sponsors.

The Nutcracker
The Coastal Ballet Academy will present the Nutcracker on Sunday, December 8. Under the direction of Madame Rio Cordy Barlow, the ballet academy will bring this classic holiday ballet to life. This event will begin  at 2 p.m. at the Erie H. Meyer Civic Center, located at 1930 West 2nd Street.

Tickets for the show are $15 and will be available at the City Store box office or online. Space is limited. The box office is located at 1821 Gulf Shores Parkway and office hours are Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. and Saturday, 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.

Baldwin Pops Christmas Concert
On Tuesday, December 10, the City of Gulf Shores will open its doors to host the Baldwin Pops Band for a Christmas Concert at 7 p.m. at the Cultural Center Auditorium. The Baldwin Pops is an organization of volunteer musicians whose mission is to share music in a concert band format free of charge to the citizens of Baldwin County.

This event will not require a ticket. Seats are first come, first serve. Baldwin Pops Concerts are a collection site for the US Marine Corps Reserves Toys for Tots program. Patrons are encouraged to bring a new, unwrapped gift.

Breakfast with Santa
Children will have one last minute chance to visit with Santa on Saturday, December 21, as Gulf Shores hosts Breakfast with Santa at the Erie H. Meyer Civic Center. Beginning at 8 a.m., families can dive into a wholesome breakfast complete with sausage, bacon, eggs and pancakes. Admission for Breakfast with Santa is $5.00, while children 3 and under are free.  The first 50 children will receive a complimentary picture with Santa.

2020 Winter Entertainment Edition – Small Town, Big Beach Productions
The City of Gulf Shores is excited to announce the 2020 Winter Edition of Small Town, Big Beach™ Productions. This year’s lineup is as follows:

• The Drifters: January 27-28
• December ’63: A Tribute to Frankie Valli & the Four Seasons: February 3-4
• John Davidson with special guest Gail Farrell: February 10-11
• Harrison Greenbaum: February 17-18

Shows will begin at 7 p.m. at the Erie H. Meyer Civic Center. Doors will open at 6 p.m. Tickets sales will begin Monday, October 21 at 10 a.m. Tickets are $35 and may be purchased online at www.gulfshoresal.gov/stbbproductions or in person at the City Store located at 1821 Gulf Shores Parkway. Hours are Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
