1 in 5 youth, ages 13-18, lives with a mental health condition. This means that if a class has 25 students, 5 of them are impacted.
That is why it is so important for all adults who work with youth to take Youth Mental Health First Aid, an 8-hour course that teaches participants how to recognize and support adolescents experiencing a mental health or substance use challenge.
Having a more informed staff can dramatically help early intervention efforts, and get youth the help they need, when they need it.
