The care and feeding of Native Azaleas will be the subject at the July 27 Wonderful Wednesday session at Bellingrath Gardens and Home.
Event Description:
At Bellingrath Gardens' final Wonderful Wednesday session, expert grower Maarten van der Giessen, owner of van Der Giessen Nursery in Wilmer, will talk about deciduous azaleas native to our region, many of which were hybridized by deceased University of South Alabama professor Dr. Eugene Aromi. Find out how Dr. Aromi kept the best traits of Southeastern native azaleas, adding new flower forms, fragrance and richer colors. A selection of Maarten’s plants will be available in our Gift Shop.

Bellingrath Gardens and Home, the 65-acre garden and estate home of Walter and Bessie Bellingrath, is located at 12401 Bellingrath Gardens Road in south Mobile County, Alabama.
