Name: USA Lecture Series - Using Past Geological Events to Envision Future Extension Events: Are Humanity's Days Numbered?
Date: December 8, 2016
Time: 6:30 PM - 7:30 PM CST
Event Description:
Are Humanity's days numbered? The Answer is Yes! Join Dr. Doug Haywick, as he discusses past events and what we can expect in the future. His presentation will be a reflective look back on some of the causes of mass extinctions over the past 1 billion years or so and pose two important questions; why do bad things always happen to good lifeforms, and what's likely going to be the cause of our demise in the (hopefully) distant future?

Dr. Doug Haywick is an Associate Professor of Geology  specializing in sedimentary petrology and low-temperature geochemistry in the Department of Earth Sciences at the University of South Alabama. He received a BS (Honours) in Geology and Chemistry from McMaster University (Hamilton, Ontario), an MS in Earth Sciences from Memorial University of Newfoundland (ST. John's NF), both in Canada, and a Ph.D. in Geology from James Cook University of North Queensland (Townsville, QLD) in Australia.

Dr. Haywick brings geology alive.  He is known for his lively and  interactive lectures. Please join us for an evening of fun and learning.
