SACRED SOUNDS CONCERT AT GULF SHORES UNITED METHODIST CHURCH

Organ, viola, flute and piano will be among instruments featured at the 6th annual Sacred Sounds Concert at Gulf Shores United Methodist Church, 1900 Gulf Shores Parkway at 6:30pm on Sunday February 9, 2014. Tickets at $5 each are available at Thee Coffee Shop located at the church’s south campus (Winn Dixie Plaza) from 9am until noon Monday – Friday. Concert Series ticket holders may use their season pass for admission. All concert proceeds are used to support the GSUMC music ministry.
Sacred and classical music in various styles will include Gulf Shores native and organist Benjamin Rollings, GSUMC organist Jackie Craig Dalhman, and GSUMC pianist/organist Irene Walker, as well as vocalists Janis Ray and Cody Johnson (GSUMC Director of Worship Arts). Also on the program will be Victor and Megan Andzulis, who will perform on the piano, viola and flute.
Benjamin Rollings began piano studies at the age of six in his hometown of Gulf Shores. Continuing his studies with renowned teachers, he made his public debut while still in high school, later graduating summa cum laude from the University of South Alabama. His resume includes numerous distinctions and awards.
Jackie Dahlman has been organist at GSUMC since 2004. Prior to that, she was organist/director at Holy Spirit Episcopal Church. Her extensive background includes organ seminars in England, Scotland, France, Germany and Spain. She has played organs in Westminster Abbey, Notre Dame Cathedral, Strasbourg Cathedral, and the Royal Chapel at Versailles.
Victor and Megan Andzulis are graduates with honors from Pensacola Christian College, both with advanced degrees. Victor is an area educator and a member of the Pensacola Symphony Orchestra and the Northwest Florida Symphony Orchestra. Megan teaches private piano and woodwinds in the greater Pensacola area.
The GSUMC Reuter pipe organ was severely damaged during Hurricane Ivan. Afterwards, it was completely restored and enhanced with a new three manual console and added digital stops. It was revoiced and is now a complete instrument capable of playing all styles of organ music.
