Event Description:
Slip and slide your way into the Gulf of Mexico for a non-traditional Polar Bear Dip with the Kiwanis Club of Gulf Shores on Sunday, January 1, 2012 at high noon at Gulf Shores Public Beach.
There is no charge to participate, and the local Kiwanians, with the cooperation of The Hangout and the City of Gulf Shores, will set up a 33 ft. two lane slip & slide that will deposit sliders directly into the Gulf of Mexico. Of course, some participants may choose to take a more traditional route to the Gulf. But regardless of how they got there, all participants will be treated to a free buffet at The Hangout afterwards.
It's a family friendly event, and participants are encouraged to come in costume and celebrate the new year with a refreshing dip into the Gulf of Mexico. The plunge will take place at high noon directly in front of The Hangout, at the southend of Hwy. 59 in Gulf Shores.
There is no registration required or cost to participate, and prizes will be awarded for the best costumes and the best teams. A special cash award and trophy will be presented to the Snowbird Club with the most number of participants.
