Mobile had the first Mardi Gras in the Western Hemisphere in 1703 and the first float parade in 1830. Today,  Mobile has 77 Mystic Societies and  37 parades.  Come for a lively exploration of the history and tradition of Carnival with Mobile’s resident Mardi Gras historian and author.   This is the third lecture in this year’s  USA Gulf Coast Distinguished Lecture Series.
