Event Description:
The Inaugural Blue Marlin Grand Championship of the Gulf will be held July 11-15, 2012 at The Wharf Entertainment Complex in Orange Beach, AL. The Grand Championship is an exciting new event that places the focus on Blue Marlin and utilizes a unique point system to blend traditional weighed and catch and release categories.
A full slate of festivities is planned in conjunction with the tournament. A private Captain’s Cookout and Dock Party will kick things off on Tuesday, July 10. Wednesday, July 11 will see the official Kickoff Party and Captain’s Meeting, with a stage set up at the Wharf Marina’s west basin for live entertainment and a Miss Billfish Contest. A private breakfast will be held for the tournament participants and sponsors on Thursday morning, July 12, before the boats depart at noon.
Weigh in will take place at the Wharf’s Main Street Circle on Friday and Saturday evenings, July 13-14, and crowds of thousands are expected to attend. Numerous vendors and tournament sponsors will be on hand, creating an exciting festival atmosphere.
