Event Description:

Final Volunteer Field Observer (VFOB) Training

After the oil disaster, Mobile Baykeeper and Alabama Coastal Foundation were involved in the creation of a volunteer program that trained concerned citizens and coastal residents to go out and monitor sections of shoreline looking for land use, vegetation, wildlife, and perhaps most importantly, oil impacts. There are sections of coastline in Gulf Shores that have reported oil as recently as October, but there are still miles of shoreline in Perdido Beach, Gulf Shores, Fort Morgan, and Bon Secour that haven’t ever been assessed.  The final VFOB training will serve to educate and train individuals in order for them to be able to make these needed assessments.
