The Baldwin Business Support Center is conducting a free seminar for business owners regarding the State of Alabama’s new E-Verify process. This seminar will be held on Tuesday, February 7th from 11am - noon at Faulkner State’s Gulf Shores Campus. To register, please contact the Business Support Center at 251-968-3118 or email BSC@FauklnerState.edu.
The Business Support Center’s E-verify seminar was created to assist local business owners in understanding the E-verify process. Under direction from Alabama’s new immigration law, all companies who conduct business with the state are required to E-Verify all new employees. Businesses must have E-Verify implemented by April 1, 2012.
E-Verify is a web-based, free program run by the federal government designed to compare an employee’s current I-9 information with government records to verify citizenship. All new hires in Alabama will have their social security number submitted via internet to the Department of Homeland Security website.
