Event Description:
The Ballyhoo Festival is a fine arts festival celebrating art and cultural exchange.  It will feature some of the finest artists in Alabama and surroundsing States.  The Ballyhoo Festival will also host the Poarch Band of Creek Indians from Poarch, Alabama.  They are the only federally recognized tribe in the State of Alabama.  They will perform tribal dance in ceremonial regalia at 11 a.m. and 4 pm.  There will also be a Ballyhoo Queen Contest, a parody of sorts, moderated by Darwin Singleton of Channel 15 in Mobile.  This event is full of laughter and fun as contestants of all ages compete in this spoof of a contest to win prize money to be donated to the charity of their choice.  For children, the Ballyhoo Train will run the perimter all day, stopping each round for a sweet treat for kids. The Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo will have a Petting Zoo and there will be four art activity tents for creative little minds. There will be demonstrations of glass making, basket weaving, fabric weaving and caricature creation. The Ballyhoo Festival will feature food by Waterway Village restaurants, Acme Oyster House, Lulu's, Bywater Bistro and concessions by the local Kiwanis Club.
