Event Description:
The Ballyhoo Festival is a juried fine art and fine craft event with additional emphasis on various cultures. The Festival features 100 artists from across the United States. The first day of our event features the culture of indigenous people. The Poarch Creek Indians provide historical narrative about how they managed to remain in Alabama during the Trail of Tears. They also perform original tribal dance in ceremonial regalia. The meaning of each dance is describe by their Cultural Director. On the second day of our festival, we feature the culture of Early Americana Appalachian music in the form of a Fiddle and Banjo Competition, sponsored in part by Florbama and the Frank Brown International Songwriters' Festival. Visitors will experience fine art, culture, food from different cultures, children's art, on-site craft demonstrations and great stage bands. This is a family and pet friendly event at the Gulf State Park in Gulf Shores.
Location:
The Gulf State Park, 20110 Hwy 135, Gulf Shores, Al. This beautiful venue is by Lake Shelby with the Gulf of Mexico directly across the street.
