As a non-profit organization, the Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo relies on the generosity of donations to support its mission to create compelling experiences that connect people and community with wildlife and inspire personal responsibility for the conservation of the natural world.
Art on the Wild Side is our key annual fundraiser for the Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo. Funds raised at this event support our annual operations, which include:
- Providing animal care (daily diets, healthcare, activities) to over 300 animals each day. It costs approximately $5,000 per week to feed all the residents of the zoo.
- Building and enhancing new and existing exhibits and enrichment that provide engaging adventures for both animals and guests. We are hopeful, with your support, 2022 will include the following:
Completing the Munsell Sustainable Garden, including year-round planting for animal diets, herbs for the Safari Club Restaurant, composting, and vermiculture areas for community education.
Expansion of Coola Springs Walkabout to create an exhibit for adult kangaroos or wallabies, emus, additional birds, a new larger aviary for kookaburras, and possibly a feeding aviary for lories. - Providing educational programs for all ages that inspire guests and members of our community to be a part of conservation and sustainability.
